Paul Kurtz Talk Dedicated to Steve Allen
Friend
and Publisher to Speak in L.A.
Los
Angeles, CA—
World renowned philosopher and founder of Skeptical
Inquirer and Free Inquiry
magazines, Paul Kurtz, will be in Los Angeles to discuss the
“Non-Religious as the Last Openly Discriminated-Against Minority” at
11 a.m. on November 5th at the Center for Inquiry-West,
5519 Grosvenor Blvd., Los Angeles. Dr. Kurtz, a longtime friend of Steve
Allen, was also Allen’s publisher of many of his books including Dumbth and How to Be Funny.
Steve Allen was a dedicated supporter of the Center for Inquiry-West
in Los Angeles, and performed there several times, most recently at a
Secular Organizations for Sobriety conference. Kurtz will dedicate
Sunday’s talk to Mr. Allen.
Also
speaking on Sunday will be longtime human rights advocate and gay activist
Morris Kight, and civil rights attorney and former political candidate
Eddie Tabash.
Dr.
Kurtz will repeat his talk on Monday, November 6, at the University of
Southern California, at the University Religious Center's “Fishbowl”
Chapel from noon to 1 p.m. He will address “Skepticism in the Modern
World” at his talk at the University of California, Irvine at 6 p.m. on
Monday evening.
Paul Kurtz, professor emeritus of the State
University of New York at Buffalo, founded CSICOP and Skeptical Inquirer magazine in 1976. He is a major author and
leading figure in the fields of secular humanism and skepticism.
CFI-West is located 1 mile west of the 405
Freeway, ½ block north of Jefferson, near Marina Del Rey. Admission to
all of these events is free. The public is welcome.
